Closure of Low Power Broadcast - reminder!

Fugro Seastar product Guidance Note 6.0 of 23 July 2009 advised vessel managers that the Low Power Broadcast of Differential Global Navigation Satellite Services (DGNSS) was being phased out during the 4th Quarter of 2009 in all areas except for the Pacific Ocean Region.

Changeover to alternative High Power Broadcasts has progressed well, and on this basis it has now been decided that the final Low Power transmission on AOR-W, AOR-E and IOR will be at 08.00 UTC on Tuesday 17th November.

    Fugro Seastar AS is the market leader in providing positioning data via satellite channels to the marine market and is at the forefront in the design and development of Differential GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Services) positioning technology.

     

    Fugro SeaSTAR DP service provides a reliable source of differential GPS (DGPS) corrections for Dynamic Positioning (DP) applications all around the world. The corrections are broadcast on dedicated channels in all four Inmarsat ocean regions in addition to high power beams.

    Fugro Seastar AS offers three independent decimetre level DGPS augmentation services that provide High Accuracy positioning for the marine user:

  • Orbit/Clock Carrier Phase Based GPS/GLONASS Service (SeaSTAR-G2)

  • Wide Area Network Carrier Phase Based Service (SeaSTAR-HP)

  • Orbit/Clock Carrier Phase Based GPS Service (SeaSTAR-XP)
