Users of the Fugro Seastar AS Seastar DP and Marinestar services are advised of action that must be taken, as a consequence of frequency changes made by our communications service partner, Inmarsat.
After a short period of parallel operation, new broadcast transmission frequencies will replace existing ones and it is essential that all users (who have not so far done so) make changes to settings in their receivers, over a relatively short timescale. If the changes are not made, receipt of the Seastar DP and Marinestar correction signals will not be possible.
The nature of the changes to be made depends upon area of operation, beams currently in use and the internal system software version of the vessel’s receiver. In some cases it will be necessary to update internal system software and in a limited number of instances may be advisable to replace older equipment.
A step-by-step guide has been prepared to give users the information they need to make the necessary changes to their receivers. Users are strongly recommended to familiarise themselves with the information in this self-help guide.

The changeover is well underway and only the final phase remains, which is ongoing until March 21/22 2012
To determine what action needs to be taken, Fugro Seastar technical support must be provided with the following details:
Vessel name and IMO number; Seastar/Marinestar equipment type;
location; serial numbers; internal system software version(s) (if known).
For users' convenience a web form has been provided;
n The beamchange webform (download from top right bar)
Fleet managers are requested to advise all vessels they are responsible for of these business-critical and imminent changes, and in the first instance to instruct vessels that are able to, to use the web form to provide the necessary information.
For vessels that are unable to use the web form, a faxable form is available:
n Faxable Vessel Reporting Form (download from top right bar). Vessels are requested to fax the completed form to the shore office contact.
Fleet managers may amalgamate vessel responses and report them to Fugro Seastar technical support by downloading and completing the following spreadsheet:
n Shore Office Reporting Form
Users who have reported their information correctly will be contacted by Fugro Seastar technical support who will issue further instructions.
For those who have not done so already, it is essential that action is taken now, to avoid service disruption.
